In my Spring 2019 Magazine Design & Layout course at Loyola, I was required to create and design a fake magazine with its own style, theme, and purpose. I created a Chicago music magazine that focuses on lesser known artists in the city. I had to produce the premiere issue's cover, table of contents, letter from the editor, several spreads, and include various multimedia and interactive elements for online publishing.
Since Rogers Bark Pet Salon was sold to a completely new owner in 2017, its website needed to be revamped to reflect the new owner's vision of the longstanding and well-known Rogers Park gem. Heather Wilson hired me as a receptionist shortly after she purchased the business, and soon enough, I accepted her offer to be an assistant manager. I work in the bathing room, hire and train new employees, write employee handbooks, and update the website. Heather requested a modern layout for the new website with user-friendly navigation and a cute aesthetic that matched the feel of the shop.
As a staff designer for the 2019 Loyola University Chicago Mosaic Magazine, I was responsible for designing pages 12-13, 38-39, & 44-45. Loyola publishes and prints its social justice magazine each year with a new theme. For best results, download the PDF, open in Acrobat, and view as two page spreads with a cover page.
A coworker of mine needed help editing and publishing his children's short story book. I made line-by-line edits to the copy as well as designed the book from cover to cover. I also helped him publish it through Amazon's self-publishing service.
For my Fall 2018 Intro to Newspaper Design & Layout course, I was required to create and design a fake newspaper for a location of my choice that reflected the area's demographics and communal interests. I created The Greenville Graze, which is located in my hometown of Greenville, SC.
